The birth of a movement: Sustainable menstruation in Egypt.

From One Girl’s Pain to a Movement of grace & dignity.

McKenz didn’t start with a business model.
It started with a girl.

A young girl living in extreme poverty, overwhelmed by shame and fear the first time she got her period. With no access to menstrual products, no education, and no one to reassure her, her period felt like a punishment, something that stripped her of dignity and safety.

"That scene never left my memory" stated Kenzie, the founder.

It revealed a painful truth:
For many girls, menstruation isn’t just inconvenient, it’s traumatic.

And that was the moment McKenz was born.

Starting with the Basics: Pads, Education, and Dignity

Before swimwear, before innovation, before fashion: there was a responsibility.

We began by creating sustainable menstrual pads and distributing them to over 500 women and girls in 2023, alongside education and honest conversations about menstrual health.
The goal was simple but urgent: no girl should feel ashamed, unsafe, or hopeless because of her period.

Periods should never take away a girl’s will to live, her confidence, or her sense of worth.

From Survival to Freedom: Asking the Bigger Question

As the work grew, another question emerged:

Why should something naturally beautiful like periods limit a one's life?

Why should girls miss school trips, beach days, swim classes, or joyful moments because of mother nature?

That question wasn’t theoretical, it was personal.

Like many Egyptian girls, Kenzie herself grew up canceling beach plans, skipping swim days, and quietly adjusting her life around her cycle. The choices were always unfair:

  • Don’t swim

  • Or struggle with products that weren’t designed for water or simply weren’t accessible/common in our society.

There had to be another way.

Turning a Personal Struggle into a Purpose

What started as a question became a mission:

To create period swimwear made in Egypt, for girls and women who deserve to live fully—every day of the month—without compromise. Evolving into Egypt's first platform for sustainable menstrual products & innovative solutions.

After months of research, fabric testing, and real-life trials, McKenz had launched as Period swimwear in Egypt, designed for: Our bodies. Our culture. Our movements.
